Today is the website day!! There are so many good things happening that I am so excited to share! But first, some background...
Many of you know that about two years ago, I launched the first iteration of this little business--Emily Nicoletti Design. My journey over the past few years is a story for another blog post, but for now I'll just say that it's been a challenging season. But in the midst of some tough times, Emily Nicoletti Design gave me the opportunity to work with a huge variety of different clients and to learn a lot and sharpen my technical skills in the process.
Some of the biggest lessons I've learned over the past few years in business have been lessons I've learned about myself. I've learned routines and creative rituals that help me thrive. I've noticed trends in the kids of projects that make me come alive, and those that just feel tedious. I've focused in on my personal design style, and I've learned that it is okay to not take on projects that don't fit my goals.
That's where the vision for a new kind of personal business began. What if I could narrow the focus of my business to only projects and services that I enjoy working on? Could I make these kinds of projects into a real business? Do I need the kinds of big, corporate clients other designers work for?
After months of thinking, planning, and creating, I'm making the leap. I'm creating a business that will serve my clients better because of the passion and heart I'll be able to put behind it. The Creative Swell is born. We've got a new name to mark the transition (thanks to Josh for that one!), new branding, a new website, new projects. Here is a little overview of what's new:
Branding and logo design have always been a staple around here, but now we're taking things in a much more defined, clear direction. Instead of taking on any and every project thrown my way, regardless of whether or not the idea of the project fits my style, I'm narrowing my focus to work with creative entrepreneurs and small business owners who are looking for curated, polished, and elegant design to represent their brands. I really want my passion and my heart for beauty to come through in each and every brand I create--and that's a million times more likely to happen when I'm able to use my unique skills and talents in my work. If you are looking for fresh, clean, totally custom branding, and you like the vibe of what you see on my site, let's talk! I'm guessing we'd be a good fit.
Some of my favorite projects are stationery pieces. I love to work with brides, party planners, and friends who like to send mail to create gorgeous stationery pieces to set just the right tone for an event. Paper and stationery should be just as big a piece of an event as anything else, and should certainly be beautiful pieces of art. Tell me about your event, and I'll help you come up with stationery that feels like a thoughtful gift for the recipient. Additions and even a shop are coming to this category soon, so stay tuned!
Styled photos are a brand new feature for The Creative Swell! After too many frustrating hours of searching the internet for stock photos to use in design projects and not finding exactly what I needed, I decided it was time to do something about it. I've been creating these styled photos as a resource for designers and non-designers to use to mockup products, to display their work, or to easily create professional-looking banners and web graphics. I've really enjoyed creating images that I would want to use in my own work, so if there's anything you'd like to see added to the collection, let's talk and I'll see what I can do! I'd also love to do custom photos of your products for your online shop. Head over to my Creative Market page to see my work!
Now, I realize this one is a bit of a tease, since my hand lettering is really the star of the show here in many ways. I'm putting some finishing touches on a BUNCH of very new, very exciting things that you will be seeing very soon! I'm rolling out a shop, some tutorials, and even some videos. This blog will be largely focused on lettering tutorials, supplies, inspiration, and my lettering work. Big things are in the works, and I can't wait to share them, so please take a second to subscribe to the blog and follow me on Instagram so you'll always be up-to-date. Take a look around the site--I think you'll find it's much more me. And that feels good. I'd love to hear what you think!
